Atlanta Instruments cc. of South Africa is a key business partner in this effort. Earlier last year, Atlanta Instruments cc. took part for the second time in the country’s largest exhibition for instrumentation and factory automation – the Process Automation & Information Technology Exhibition in Johannesburg.
Atlanta Instruments carried out trial tests on very large pipe applications with TOKYO KEIKI’s UFL series clamp-on ultrasonic flow meter at South Africa’s ESKOM Vanderkloof Hydroelectric Dam, a facility owned by the Department of Water Affairs and Sanitation and operated by ESKOM, the national electrical power company. The Vanderkloof Dam boasts the highest dam wall in South Africa and incorporates penstocks of 7165mm diameter for power generation. Tests were run with the UFL-30 installed on penstocks of diameters which exceeded the flow meter’s printed specifications (DN 25mm to DN6000mm). We also installed four UFL-30 flow meters at Eskom Nuclear Power Station; first ever to do so in the world on the emergency rescue lines “RRS lines”. We have installed more than 200 ultrasonic clamp-on flow meters at different sites at Department of Water Affairs and Sanitation.
